HOW TO BOOST YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

On the BBC programme of the above name, they recommended massage as effective for this.  Scientific research found a 70% boost  in white blood cells and 20% increase in T-cells after having a regular massage. It was found that touching the skin stimulated the lympn glands to release these protective cells into the body.  Massage has been used to boost immune responses in HIV patients for many years.  This is encouraging news.

MENTAL  HEALTH

At some time in our complicated lives we will all experience reduced mental health.  It can be caused by physiological, environmental, occupational or genetic factors, as well as other influences such as trauma, chronic stress, physical illness, childhood experience or hereditary issues.

Symptoms of poor mental health such as stress, anxiety and depression can be alleviated by the gentle touch of massage. Therapeutic touch not only stimulates the body's nervous system into releasing chemicals which have a positive effect but also reduces the negative chemicals such as cortisol and adrenalline.

Natural endorphins are pain relieving, control the response to stresses and determine mood.

Enkaphalins produce sedation to effect mood and stimulate motivation, also analgesic.
